Skyglow Project

Light Pollution, also known as Skyglow, may not appear to be the most urgent problem facing the planet, but it may be the most indicative of humanity's growing separation from nature. Light pollution impacts health of humans and animals,…

  • Sneaky maneuver: Per the longstanding LCCO Bylaws, Elections were to be held this May, to finally elect officers to replace the Acting Board, mostly holdovers from the Organizing Committee. This was a welcome event, given that elections have never been held and the Acting Board is made up solely of 5 members from 4 homes, all on Thaddeus Cove. How can such a narrowly located BD purport to represent all of Lost Creek? So it was beyond disappointing that the "Board", with no input or vote by the Members, "amended" the Bylaws on April 1 to double their terms to 4 years, thereby obviating the need for pesky elections. It is also inappropriate and in violation of the principles upon which the LCCO was founded to delete Citizen Communication (all generous 3 minutes of it) from the agendas completely.

  • Concerns: Respectfully, it was wrong of Acting (not elected) Vice President Carla Doyne to make unpleasant remarks about President Trump during the LCCO meeting on 4/5/18. Ms. Doyne is entitled to her own views of course, but as a Founding Member, may I say she may not make such remarks when acting as an LCCO BD Member. Her doing so directly contravenes this mussion statement, "The goals of the LCCO are to:

    • Promote good relations with political leaders, staff, and media."

It was particularly unfortunate that she chose to do so when Alice Claiborne from Ellen Troxclair's office was in attendance.
